13 Surely God will not hear an empty `cry', Neither will the Almighty regard it.
Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend `it' in your pleasures.
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, And lay up his words in thy heart. If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, If thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents. And lay thou `thy' treasure in the dust, And `the gold of' Ophir among the stones of the brooks; And the Almighty will be thy treasure, And precious silver unto thee. For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, And shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee; And thou shalt pay thy vows.
I cry unto thee, and thou dost not answer me: I stand up, and thou gazest at me.
He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, And hath not despised their prayer.
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God; for to draw nigh to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh with a multitude of business, and a fool's voice with a multitude of words.
They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee. Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
Yea, though ye offer me your burnt-offerings and meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.
And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She saith unto him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am about to drink? They say unto him, We are able.

Job 35:9-13
Elihu here returns an answer to another word that Job had said, which, he thought, reflected much upon the justice and goodness of God, and therefore ought not to pass without a remark. Observe,
Job 35:14-16
Here is,
