22 I will also praise H3034 thee with the psaltery, H3627 H5035 even thy truth, H571 O my God: H430 unto thee will I sing H2167 with the harp, H3658 O thou Holy One H6918 of Israel. H3478
Whom hast thou reproached H2778 and blasphemed? H1442 and against whom hast thou exalted H7311 thy voice, H6963 and lifted up H5375 thine eyes H5869 on high? H4791 even against the Holy H6918 One of Israel. H3478
Surely the isles H339 shall wait H6960 for me, and the ships H591 of Tarshish H8659 first, H7223 to bring H935 thy sons H1121 from far, H7350 their silver H3701 and their gold H2091 with them, unto the name H8034 of the LORD H3068 thy God, H430 and to the Holy One H6918 of Israel, H3478 because he hath glorified H6286 thee.
[[A Psalm H4210 or Song H7892 for the sabbath H7676 day.]] H3117 It is a good H2896 thing to give thanks H3034 unto the LORD, H3068 and to sing praises H2167 unto thy name, H8034 O most High: H5945 To shew forth H5046 thy lovingkindness H2617 in the morning, H1242 and thy faithfulness H530 every night, H3915 Upon an instrument of ten strings, H6218 and upon the psaltery; H5035 upon the harp H3658 with a solemn sound. H1902
Now G1161 I say G3004 that Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 was G1096 a minister G1249 of the circumcision G4061 for G5228 the truth G225 of God, G2316 to G1519 confirm G950 the promises G1860 made unto the fathers: G3962
Yet I will rejoice H5937 in the LORD, H3068 I will joy H1523 in the God H430 of my salvation. H3468 The LORD H3069 God H136 is my strength, H2428 and he will make H7760 my feet H7272 like hinds' H355 feet, and he will make me to walk H1869 upon mine high places. H1116 To the chief singer H5329 on my stringed instruments. H5058
For thus saith H559 the high H7311 and lofty One H5375 that inhabiteth H7931 eternity, H5703 whose name H8034 is Holy; H6918 I dwell H7931 in the high H4791 and holy H6918 place, with him also that is of a contrite H1793 and humble H8217 spirit, H7307 to revive H2421 the spirit H7307 of the humble, H8217 and to revive H2421 the heart H3820 of the contrite ones. H1792
For I am the LORD H3068 thy God, H430 the Holy One H6918 of Israel, H3478 thy Saviour: H3467 I gave H5414 Egypt H4714 for thy ransom, H3724 Ethiopia H3568 and Seba H5434 for thee.
Get you out H5493 of the way, H1870 turn aside H5186 out of the path, H734 cause the Holy One H6918 of Israel H3478 to cease H7673 from before H6440 us. Wherefore thus saith H559 the Holy One H6918 of Israel, H3478 Because ye despise H3988 this word, H1697 and trust H982 in oppression H6233 and perverseness, H3868 and stay H8172 thereon:
All the paths H734 of the LORD H3068 are mercy H2617 and truth H571 unto such as keep H5341 his covenant H1285 and his testimonies. H5713
Therefore as the fire H784 devoureth H398 the stubble, H7179 and the flame H3956 H3852 consumeth H7503 the chaff, H2842 so their root H8328 shall be as rottenness, H4716 and their blossom H6525 shall go up H5927 as dust: H80 because they have cast away H3988 the law H8451 of the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 and despised H5006 the word H565 of the Holy One H6918 of Israel. H3478
But the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 shall be exalted H1361 in judgment, H4941 and God H410 that is holy H6918 shall be sanctified H6942 in righteousness. H6666
Praise H1984 him with the sound H8629 of the trumpet: H7782 praise H1984 him with the psaltery H5035 and harp. H3658 Praise H1984 him with the timbrel H8596 and dance: H4234 praise H1984 him with stringed instruments H4482 and organs. H5748 Praise H1984 him upon the loud H8088 cymbals: H6767 praise H1984 him upon the high sounding H8643 cymbals. H6767
I will worship H7812 toward thy holy H6944 temple, H1964 and praise H3034 thy name H8034 for thy lovingkindness H2617 and for thy truth: H571 for thou hast magnified H1431 thy word H565 above all thy name. H8034

Commentary on Psalms 71 Matthew Henry Commentary
Psalm 71
David penned this psalm in his old age, as appears by several passages in it, which makes many think that it was penned at the time of Absalom's rebellion; for that was the great trouble of his later days. It might be occasioned by Sheba's insurrection, or some trouble that happened to him in that part of his life of which it was foretold that the sword should not depart from his house. But he is not over-particular in representing his case, because he intended it for the general use of God's people in their afflictions, especially those they meet with in their declining years; for this psalm, above any other, is fitted for the use of the old disciples of Jesus Christ.
He is in an ecstasy of joyful praise; and, in the singing of it, we too should have our faith in God encouraged and our hearts raised in blessing his holy name.
Psa 71:1-13
Two things in general David here prays for-that he might not be confounded and that his enemies and persecutors might be confounded.
Psa 71:14-24
David is here in a holy transport of joy and praise, arising from his faith and hope in God; we have both together v. 14, where there is a sudden and remarkable change of his voice; his fears are all silenced, his hopes raised, and his prayers turned into thanksgivings. "Let my enemies say what they will, to drive me to despair, I will hope continually, hope in all conditions, in the most cloudy and dark day; I will live upon hope and will hope to the end.' Since we hope in one that will never fail us, let not our hope in him fail us, and then we shall praise him yet more and more. "The more they reproach me the more closely will I cleave to thee; I will praise thee more and better than ever I have done yet.' The longer we live the more expert we should grow in praising God and the more we should abound in it. I will add over and above all thy praise, all the praise I have hitherto offered, for it is all too little. When we have said all we can, to the glory of God's grace, there is still more to be said; it is a subject that can never be exhausted, and therefore we should never grow weary of it. Now observe, in these verses,
