6 I opened H6605 to my beloved; H1730 but my beloved H1730 had withdrawn H2559 himself, and was gone: H5674 my soul H5315 failed H3318 when he spake: H1696 I sought H1245 him, but I could not find H4672 him; I called H7121 him, but he gave me no answer. H6030
I sleep, H3463 but my heart H3820 waketh: H5782 it is the voice H6963 of my beloved H1730 that knocketh, H1849 saying, Open H6605 to me, my sister, H269 my love, H7474 my dove, H3123 my undefiled: H8535 for my head H7218 is filled H4390 with dew, H2919 and my locks H6977 with the drops H7447 of the night. H3915
And G2532 the Lord G2962 turned, G4762 and looked upon G1689 Peter. G4074 And G2532 Peter G4074 remembered G5279 the word G3056 of the Lord, G2962 how G5613 he had said G2036 unto him, G846 Before G3754 G4250 the cock G220 crow, G5455 thou shalt deny G533 me G3165 thrice. G5151 And G2532 Peter G4074 went G1831 out, G1854 and wept G2799 bitterly. G4090
And G2532 the G1537 second time G1208 the cock G220 crew. G5455 And G2532 Peter G4074 called to mind G363 the word G4487 that G3739 Jesus G2424 said G2036 unto him, G846 G3754 Before G4250 the cock G220 crow G5455 twice, G1364 thou shalt deny G533 me G3165 thrice. G5151 And G2532 when he thought thereon, G1911 he wept. G2799
And, G2532 behold, G2400 a woman G1135 of Canaan G5478 came G1831 out of G575 the same G1565 coasts, G3725 and cried G2905 unto him, G846 saying, G3004 Have mercy G1653 on me, G3165 O Lord, G2962 thou Son G5207 of David; G1138 my G3450 daughter G2364 is grievously G2560 vexed with a devil. G1139 But G1161 he answered G611 her G846 not G3756 a word. G3056 And G2532 his G846 disciples G3101 came G4334 and besought G2065 him, G846 saying, G3004 Send G630 her G846 away; G630 for G3754 she crieth G2896 after G3693 us. G2257 But G1161 he answered G611 and said, G2036 I am G649 not G3756 sent G649 but G1508 unto G1519 the lost G622 sheep G4263 of the house G3624 of Israel. G2474 Then G1161 came she G2064 and worshipped G4352 him, G846 saying, G3004 Lord, G2962 help G997 me. G3427 But G1161 he answered G611 and said, G2036 It is G2076 not G3756 meet G2570 to take G2983 the children's G5043 bread, G740 and G2532 to cast G906 it to dogs. G2952 And G1161 she said, G2036 Truth, G3483 Lord: G2962 yet G2532 G1063 the dogs G2952 eat G2068 of G575 the crumbs G5589 which G3588 fall G4098 from G575 their G846 masters' G2962 table. G5132 Then G5119 Jesus G2424 answered G611 and said G2036 unto her, G846 O G5599 woman, G1135 great G3173 is thy G4675 faith: G4102 be it G1096 unto thee G4671 even as G5613 thou wilt. G2309 And G2532 her G846 daughter G2364 was made whole G2390 from G575 that very G1565 hour. G5610
They shall go H3212 with their flocks H6629 and with their herds H1241 to seek H1245 the LORD; H3068 but they shall not find H4672 him; he hath withdrawn H2502 himself from them.
Also when I cry H2199 and shout, H7768 he shutteth out H5640 my prayer. H8605
Yet they seek H1875 me daily, H3117 H3117 and delight H2654 to know H1847 my ways, H1870 as a nation H1471 that did H6213 righteousness, H6666 and forsook H5800 not the ordinance H4941 of their God: H430 they ask H7592 of me the ordinances H4941 of justice; H6664 they take delight H2654 in approaching H7132 to God. H430
For I will not contend H7378 for ever, H5769 neither will I be always H5331 wroth: H7107 for the spirit H7307 should fail H5848 before H6440 me, and the souls H5397 which I have made. H6213
For the LORD H3068 hath called H7121 thee as a woman H802 forsaken H5800 and grieved H6087 in spirit, H7307 and a wife H802 of youth, H5271 when thou wast refused, H3988 saith H559 thy God. H430 For a small H6996 moment H7281 have I forsaken H5800 thee; but with great H1419 mercies H7356 will I gather H6908 thee. In a little H8241 wrath H7110 I hid H5641 my face H6440 from thee for a moment; H7281 but with everlasting H5769 kindness H2617 will I have mercy H7355 on thee, saith H559 the LORD H3068 thy Redeemer. H1350
Wherefore, when I came, H935 was there no man? H376 when I called, H7121 was there none to answer? H6030 Is my hand H3027 shortened H7114 at all, H7114 that it cannot redeem? H6304 or have I no power H3581 to deliver? H5337 behold, at my rebuke H1606 I dry up H2717 the sea, H3220 I make H7760 the rivers H5104 a wilderness: H4057 their fish H1710 stinketh, H887 because there is no water, H4325 and dieth H4191 for thirst. H6772
And he said H559 unto his brethren, H251 My money H3701 is restored; H7725 and, lo, H2009 it is even in my sack: H572 and their heart H3820 failed H3318 them, and they were afraid, H2729 saying H559 one H376 to another, H251 What is this that God H430 hath done H6213 unto us?
My beloved H1730 put in H7971 his hand H3027 by H4480 the hole H2356 of the door, and my bowels H4578 were moved H1993 for him.
By night H3915 on my bed H4904 I sought H1245 him whom my soul H5315 loveth: H157 I sought H1245 him, but I found H4672 him not. I will rise H6965 now, and go about H5437 the city H5892 in the streets, H7784 and in the broad ways H7339 I will seek H1245 him whom my soul H5315 loveth: H157 I sought H1245 him, but I found H4672 him not.
Mine eye H5869 mourneth H1669 by reason of affliction: H6040 LORD, H3068 I have called H7121 daily H3117 upon thee, I have stretched out H7849 my hands H3709 unto thee. Wilt thou shew H6213 wonders H6382 to the dead? H4191 shall the dead H7496 arise H6965 and praise H3034 thee? Selah. H5542 Shall thy lovingkindness H2617 be declared H5608 in the grave? H6913 or thy faithfulness H530 in destruction? H11 Shall thy wonders H6382 be known H3045 in the dark? H2822 and thy righteousness H6666 in the land H776 of forgetfulness? H5388 But unto thee have I cried, H7768 O LORD; H3068 and in the morning H1242 shall my prayer H8605 prevent H6923 thee. LORD, H3068 why castest thou off H2186 my soul? H5315 why hidest H5641 thou thy face H6440 from me?
I am weary H3021 of my crying: H7121 my throat H1627 is dried: H2787 mine eyes H5869 fail H3615 while I wait H3176 for my God. H430
[[To the chief Musician H5329 upon Aijeleth H365 Shahar, H7837 A Psalm H4210 of David.]] H1732 My God, H410 my God, H410 why hast thou forsaken H5800 me? why art thou so far H7350 from helping H3444 me, and from the words H1697 of my roaring? H7581 O my God, H430 I cry H7121 in the daytime, H3119 but thou hearest H6030 not; and in the night season, H3915 and am not silent. H1747

Commentary on Song of Songs 5 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 5
In this chapter we have,
Sgs 5:1
These words are Christ's answer to the church's prayer in the close of the foregoing chapter, Let my beloved come into his garden; here he has come, and lets her know it. See how ready God is to hear prayer, how ready Christ is to accept the invitations that his people give him, though we are backward to hear his calls and accept his invitations. He is free in condescending to us, while we are shy of ascending to him. Observe how the return answered the request, and outdid it.
Sgs 5:2-8
In this song of loves and joys we have here a very melancholy scene; the spouse here speaks, not to her beloved (as before, for he has withdrawn), but of him, and it is a sad story she tells of her own folly and ill conduct towards him, notwithstanding his kindness, and of the just rebukes she fell under for it. Perhaps it may refer to Solomon's own apostasy from God, and the sad effects of that apostasy after God had come into his garden, had taken possession of the temple he had built, and he had feasted with God upon the sacrifices (v. 1); however, it is applicable to the too common case both of the churches and particular believers, who by their carelessness and security provoke Christ to withdraw from them. Observe,
