9 "When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, 'Perform a miracle!' then you shall tell Aaron, 'Take your rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.'"
"Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above."
The Jews therefore answered him, "What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?"
They said therefore to him, "What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do?
You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs."
Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
Moses stretched forth his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt.
Yet God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.
speak, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers, that has said, My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.
